Picture Perfect

First off, I would like to congratulate all you fabulous women on your big day. Your wedding is a day that will never be forgotten, a day full of family, friends and pictures that you’ll probably be looking back on 20 years from now thinking, “OMG, what was thinking when I picked that dress”…lets hope not. Well at least your skin will look flawless!

Moving on… let me just say that looking Picture Perfect on your big day requires some serious dedication.

SN: This also refers to the mother of the bride, bridal parties, graduate attendees, class reunions and pretty much any excuse you can give your self to look fabulous!

In my six years as a Medical Aesthetician, I have found the top three concerns my clients present to me are acne/acne scars, improving skin tone and texture and smoothing out wrinkles.

When looking to dramatically improve the look of these, it’s best to begin the process at least three months prior to the event.

Buff away the flaws

I know it can be extremely frustrating and discouraging to battle with blemishes and imperfections on the skin, especially when you want to be a “flawless bride” but take courage, there are great combinations of treatments that can be utilized to treat these issues.

The combination of microdermabrasion and a chemical peel AKA Micro-Peels provide multiple benefits for the skin.

Microdermabrasion, a process of buffing away dead skin cells with micro crystals or a diamond tip wand, is useful in treating dull and leathery skin, reduce mild acne scaring, smooth fine wrinkles, even out skin tone and exfoliate clogged pores. Microdermabrasion stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen which gives the skin its plump youthful appearance.

Chemical Peels, (shallow and medium depth) the process of a controlled exfoliation of the skin by applying the appropriate solution, exfoliates the outer layers of your skin to help remove dead and damaged surface skin cells, refine the texture and tone of your skin, and help improve acne. There are many different types of peels and should only be chosen according to your skin type, by a certified specialist .

Combined, they are ONE DYNAMIC DUO.

Home Care

Beauty and skin care go hand in hand, especially for those who want to confidently show their best.

With that being said, I can’t stress enough how important having a good home care regimen is. It is often over looked but considering our skin is the largest organ of our body and not to mention if you’re planning on spending your hard earned wages on these aesthetic treatments (I’m just saying), its critical that you nourish your skin daily with the appropriate skin care products for your skin.

A good home care regimen is also important to get the most out of your aesthetic treatments!

A good and basic home care regimen includes a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and sun block. Each doing an important job in itself, another thing to keep in mind is the quality of what you are applying to your skin.

Medical grade vs. drug store, when it comes to this, it all depends on the person’s skin type and the results they are seeking. For example, an adolescent with normal skin can easily get away with using a Neutrogena product to maintain clean and hydrated skin.

As for someone battling with sun spots, fine lines, wrinkles, etc., medical grade products are the way to go. Made up of proven ingredients that are regulated by the FDA, these products are developed through clinical research and the amounts of active ingredients (what’s actually going to make changes in your skin) are much higher (meaning deeper penetration) than what over-the-counter products are legally able to contain. Simply put: higher amounts of active ingredients = better skin!

Botox/Dysport is a FDA approved prescription medication injected in the muscles to improve moderate to severe wrinkles. Most commonly used to improve:
*Frown lines
*Crows feet
*Forehead furrows
*Skin bands on the neck

It works by temporarily relaxing the muscle. It is a safe and effective treatment that has been used by doctors for decades, initially used to treat migraines and now assists in our mission to defy gravity! Ok maybe not–hey a girl can try.

Juvederm/Restylane

Anywho, Dermal fillers on the other hand, have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime.

Wrinkle fillers can be used as “volumizers,” plumping and lifting cheeks, filling out thin lips, filling in smile lines and marionettes and even restoring volume loss on hands for those wedding band photos. Dermal fillers fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from six months to more than a year.

***I can’t speak for other offices but all injections here are performed by Dr. Mowett herself, which I’m sure is reassuring to many of you.

All treatments will be determined after first having a consultation to best meet your needs in the best way possible.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes
Iris
