What is Hyperhidrosis?
Excessive sweating, medically known as Hyperhidrosis, is a common medical condition affecting approximately 3 % of the population. This condition is seen equally in both men and women. It usually begins during childhood or adolescence.
It can affect the underarms (axillary Hyperhidrosis), palms (palmar Hyperhidrosis), feet (plantar Hyperhidrosis, face and forehead or a combination of them. The cause is unknown.
Research studies have shown that patients affected by Hyperhidrosis can have a major impact on their quality of life, causing physical discomfort, social embarrassment, and disruption of occupational and social activities.
They are non-surgical & surgical treatments options to help control Hyperhidrosis.
The Aesthetic & Wellness Center offers Botulinium A (Botox). Botox ia a non-surgical procedure that decreases 80% of the activity of the sweat glands. Botox is injected in the underarms, palms, soles and forehead with a small needle near the sweat glands. Treatments can last up to 9 months.
The results are dramatic!!!!
If you have been diagnosed with Hyperhidrosis, talk to your doctor to see if Botox is a good option for you. There are some medical insurance plans that may cover a portion of this treatment. You will require pre-authorization. Although we do not participate or receive payment from major insurance plans, we can provide you with a statement you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
If you have an HSA or FSA account, you may be eligible to pay for the treatment with these types of health savings plans. Check with your Health Insurance or Medical Health Provider.
