Q. What type of weight loss programs are available?

A: The Aesthetic & Wellness Center provides proven and effective medically-supervised weight loss programs. We combine customized nutrition plans, education and behavior modification to ensure long-term weight loss. Weekly appointments provide accountability, support and encouragement throughout your weight loss journey. Natural supplements are available to accompany nutritional programs or when deemed necessary by the physician, FDA-approved medications. Weekly vitamin and amino acid injections are given to enhance weight loss.

Q: Who supervises the Medical Weight Loss Program?

A: Dr. Inda Mowett is the Medical Director of The Aesthetic & Wellness Center. Dr. Mowett closely supervises the program and she is always available to provide support and guidance to each and every one of her patients enrolled in the weight loss program. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and Medical Bariatrics (non-surgical weight management). She is one of only 400 physicians nationwide certified in Medical Bariatrics and the only physician with this accreditation in Manatee County.

Q: What is the difference between a medical and a commercial weight loss program?

A: Medically-supervised weight loss programs evaluate the medical history, lifestyle and physical limitations that an overweight or obese individual has before a weight loss program is implemented. The physician is licensed to make changes to a patient’s medication if needed, and to prescribe or dispense medications, if necessary. Most of the commercial weight loss programs will encourage their clients to buy their meals, but they will not provide a customized nutrition program or education for long-term weight loss.

Q: What types of tests are required to start the Weight Loss Program?

A: Blood work and an EKG ordered by your physician within the last 6 months. The blood work can be requested or ordered during your first vist. If you have not had an EKG within the last 6 months, we can perform one at your first visit. Call for prices on blood tests, EKG and weight loss programs at: 941-749-0741.

Q: What is the cost for the initial consultation?

A: Our current fee is $140. This will cover the initial assessment required to determine the excess of fat mass to be lost and your medical evaluation with Dr. Mowett.

Q: What type of food is recommended in the Weight Loss Program?

A: Our programs are based on real food. Losing the weight is the fist step. The Aesthetic & Wellness Center specializes in long-term weight loss. We achieve that by educating our patients on proper nutrition, behavior modification and valid exercise regimens. Our goal is to help you lose the weight and find a healthier lifestyle.

Q: Does my insurance cover any part of the program cost?

A: We recommend you check with your health insurance provider to determine if you policy covers medical weight loss and if you are eligible for reimbursement.

Q: Is the medical weight loss program tax deductible?

A: Medical weight loss programs may be tax deductible. We recommend you speak with your tax accountant to determine if our program can be deducted from your taxes.
